John Harvey, who died in late August, played once for the Ramblers at Oxshott on August 8th, 1996 when he made exactly 100 - an innings that included 1 six and 18 fours.
He was born at Cambridge in 1939 and played for Derbyshire between 1963-72 in 204 matches. He was middle order right hand bat and an off-break bowler. He hit 1000 runs in a season three times (best 1,226 av. 32.26 in 1971). His first class debut was for M.C.C. in 1961.
Harvey also played for Cambridgeshire in 1958/1973-77 and Berkshire 1978-1987 (Captain 1982-84) where he was a contemporary of another Rambler, Peter Lewington.
He was Head Groundsman and Professional at Bradfield College where he was associated with Trevor Kidson.
