Mike White, a Vice President of the Ramblers since the creation of the position in 1976 has recently passed away. He was Honorary Treasurer for the years 1972-76.
William Michael Eastwood White was born at Barnes on 22/05/1913. He was educated at Dover College and Cambridge University, where at the latter he played in 8 matches in 1937 under N.W.D.Yardley's captaincy, but did not gain a 'blue'. Mike played for the Army against the other services and also for Northamptonshire in 5 First Class matches (1947-49). In those years he was described as a lower-order right hand bat and a right-arm medium fast bowler. He had slowed to off-breaks in his time with the Ramblers.
Mike White played in 43 matches for the Ramblers between 1970-1977. He and his wife, Anne lived with their 2 daughters in Haslemere before moving to Guernsey in retirement. He was also President of Incogniti C.C.
