From the
"Surrey Advertiser":
'This was a hard fought game at Waterlooville on Sunday, with Ramblers
just failing by two wickets to get Waterlooville out. Tony Wood and Roy Hardy
made a good opening stand, putting on 77 for the first wicket. The appearance
of the two spinners Sainsbury (6-40) and Roberts (2-52) slowed the rate of
scoring by the Ramblers.
Waterlooville had a good start to their innings but found the bowling of Alan Castell difficult to score from. When Don Barnes came into his stride, the home team looked in trouble. However, Sainsbury batted well and Waterlooville managed to play out time.'
