Dear Chris,

Sorry for the delay in replying to your letter or remitting the funds to you. I saw your Mother at the Ladies cricket match and told her that I hadn't forgotten that I owed you the money for the Chinese meal (following the Hampshire Maniacs match). Enclosed is a cheque for £18.50 - a right result as they say! It really was a most enjoyable evening - thank you for organising it all.

The funniest thing I thought was the next morning looking for Trendall. Haslam and I were captain crashed in a double - a couple of ports and he's anybody's - and Trendy was in a single all in the same room. I awoke at about 8.30am feeling pretty rough - surprise, surprise - and couldn't see Trendy. I thought he'd fallen out of bed onto the wall side but he hadn't. The rain was beginning to lash in through the opened window. I went downstairs and looked everywhere, but not to be found. Jackie came out of her room and helped me look for Trendy - still nowhere to be found. I looked outside at the car and asked Jackie, as she was dressed, to see perchance if he was in the car. Lo and behold - he was! With only his boxers on, enveloped in a smelly dog rug!

I bade him 'good-morning' at which point he bolted upright and said:

"Where am I? Where am I? I couldn't get back into the pub".

He reckons he fell out of the window - a good 20 feet down, as evidenced by some scrape marks down his side and legs! Their kitchen door was a stable type door and obviously in his state he couldn't fathom the vagaries of this piece of trickery! Still a bit of a laugh................

Yours sincerely

Nick
