HASLEMERE 1974

Ramblers win a close one

From the "Surrey Advertiser" 19/05/1974

Haslemere lost a close home game against Sydenhurst Ramblers on Sunday by 7 runs.

Haslemere dismissed old rivals Ramblers for 120-their lowest score for many years-but still could not quite match this total. The visitors lost their first two wickets for 16 and struggled against accurate bowling by Norman Woods who had match figures of 2-41 off 22 consecutive overs. Haslemere fielded well and held their catches and Ramblers were all out at tea.

Haslemere made runs steadily and while Norman Woods and Bob Haynes were at the wicket were in with a chance of victory. However when they were out the remaining batsmen found Gerry Cogger and Paul Knight- in his second spell - too formidable.
