RAMBLERS v. NORMANDY 1948-1997

Ramblers played Normandy first in 1948 and subsequently on 29 other occasions (not including any matches in the 1980s for which we have no record at present). Eleven games were won, 4 lost, 1 abandoned and notably 14 were drawn. The matches were usually played at the back end of August and were regarded as trials of strength. Phil Potter and Alex Forbes presented a mean attack with the ball, while the Mayhead brothers, Len and Fred were supported by Ron Rees, John Stiff and others with the bat. Potter played in every game from 1948/76, bowling 381.6 overs taking 47 wickets at 22.02. His best return was 6-49 in 1966. Alex Forbes, while not playing as regularly also had his moments. He took 7-25 in 12 overs in the 1958 match.
