HAT TRICKS

1963 - 12th August v. Martin Crossley's XI played at Heritage, Berkshire
Result: Won by 100 runs
Ramblers 204 (N.J.Harper 80); Crossley's XI 104 (G.L.Cogger 7-19)

Gerry Cogger took 2 hat tricks in an innings against Martin Crossley's XI at R.A.F Heritage's ground, Berkshire. In an analysis of 14 overs-8 maidens-7wickets-19 runs he had 2 spells.

His first 8 overs, 5 of which were consecutive maidens Gerry conceded 12 runs for 0 wickets.

In the second spell he took 7 wickets in 3 overs for 1 run including 2 hat tricks. Five batsmen were clean bowled; one lbw and one caught - all of this in the space of 23 minutes.

This was the first match of the Ramblers' 1963 Midlands tour.

 

1949 - 1st May v. Stedham at Stedham
Result: Won by 12 runs (12 a side match)
Ramblers 120 (H.Izzard 43); Stedham 108 (M.O'Sullivan 5-8)

Denis Mackley bowled 3 batsmen in his 7th over and finished with 3-18 in 9 overs. Mike O'Sullivan also claimed 3 wickets in one over in the same innings

 

1950 - 28th May v. Reigate Pilgrims at Betchworth.
Result: Lost by 10 runs.
Reigate Pilgrims 84 (G.W.Porter 5-21); Ramblers 74 (J.Irvine 23)

George Porter and Mike O'Sullivan achieved hat-tricks in the same innings v Reigate Pilgrims at Betchworth in 1950. Porter  took the first 3 wickets of the Pilgrims' innings in his 7th over. O'Sullivan secured a caught-wicket with the last ball of his 13th over and then 2 wickets with the first 2 balls of his 14th over. Ramblers still lost the match by 10 runs!

 

1966 - 30th May v. Liphook at Liphook.
Result: Won by 142 runs
Ramblers 206-5dec (A.K.Wood 117*); Liphook 64 (C.A.P.Terry 7-23)

Chris Terry secured a hat trick in the 12th of his 14 overs v Liphook at Liphook Recreation Ground in 1966.

 

1991 - 13th August v. Middleton Sports Club at Middleton On Sea
Result: Match drawn
Ramblers 223 (D.Richards 84); Middleton Sports Club 156-9 (B.Davenport 4-30)

Brian Davenport achieved a hat-trick with the 6th ball of his 3rd over followed by the 1st and 2nd balls of his fourth - all batsmen caught.
