at Middleton Sports Club, Sunday June 24th. Weather conditions: Sunny. Match drawn
Ramblers elected to bat on a beautiful afternoon and a good pitch. Although no one made a big score there were valuable contributions from several batsmen enabling Ramblers to declare on 233 for 6.
The opposition found Somerset Pheasant hard to get away but they always had wickets in hand. Graham Sherwood picked up 3 wickets but conceded quite a few runs and Middleton looked in the box seat with 4 overs to go. Debutant Richard Matthews then pulled off a superb run-out. Pheasant and Stonebridge bowled tight second spells and Middleton failed to score off the last ball of the game when needing 4 runs to win. A good game of cricket.
