Ramblers v Middleton

Played at Middleton on Sea Sports Club

Sunday, June 22nd.

Middleton chose to bat on a rain affected pitch. After a useful opening stand a fine, diving slip catch by Rob Ward gave fellow debutant Ali Mufti (Brook & Surrey University) his first Ramblers' wicket. Simon Dillsworth bowled a useful opening spell - also capturing a wicket - but the bulk of the damage was done by Graham Sherwood (4/55) who varied his pace well and Simon Fisk who generated a brisk pace off a short run-up. Some excellent catching helped finish Middleton's innings for 139.

Ramblers made a disastrous start losing three quick wickets but Dillsworth (51) hit some big blows and Ward paced his innings well to finish on 71 not out. Richard Matthews came in to smite the winning boundary with an over and a half to spare. A good game enjoyed by all and welcome to our five new players.
